The Utility Companies and Radio Stations in the BVI were honoured yesterday at a church service for their contributions during the just last hurricane season.

The local Christian Council organized a Thanksgiving and Ecumenical Service at the Church of God of Prophecy at Huntums Ghut.

Several members of the public attended this service and according to Father Ronald Branche of the St Georges Anglican Episcopal Church it was the largest crowd ever attended a service of this nature organized for this occasion.

Among the congregation were At Large representatives Keith Flax and Irene Penn-O’Neal.

Father Branche told the congregation that the people need to give thanks this hurricane season as the territory would have experienced Hurricane Earl and flooding there was no lost of life.

Following the church service, persons were treated to a buffet at Maria’s By the Sea and were presented with a plaque from the Christian Council thanking the various organizations for their roles played during the hurricane season 2010.

Those honorees were the department of Disaster Management, the BVI Electricity Corporation, the BVI Health Services Authority, Public Works Department, Fire and Rescue Services, ZBVI Radio, ZROD, ZCCR, ZKING, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and VISAR.

During the hurricane season the people in the BVI were seriously affected by the passage of hurricane Earl. Its passage seriously disrupted the lives of many and caused businesses and schools to be closed.

Response to @ Pretty in Pink

I am first of all in the ongoing proces of constant intercessory prayer. In addition I work in most of the areas that I mentioned with the exception of youth ( Time is Limited ) I have been doing social work with a number of organizations for a very long time.

I publically post the following questions to the BVI Christian Council:

    1) Can you name any things that you have done in the areas of HIV/Aids, Youths, Crime, Prison Reform or Social Reform (Modeling Jesus)?

    2) Can you issue any sort of public statement regarding the growth of the Masons in the territory?

    3) Besides a few generic safe services what has the Christian Council accomplished?

    I await a response.

It truly is sad what our Christian Leaders have been reduced to. The Christian Council has not been relevant in years. The silence on issues such as crime, youth, the growing Masonic movement, the economy, and the over all spiritual state of the nation speaks volumes as to the true concerns of the Christian Council. The people in the pews need to rise up and challenge the leaders who sit in the seats of the Christian Council to stop scrtching the surface and get in the trenches and war against the things that come against the things of God.
