Fourth District Representative Dr. Vincent Scatliffe responded to the recent public statement made by Leader of the Opposition Dr. Orlando Smith complaining about the stench in the territory’s capital.
Scatliffe, under whose remit Road Town falls, announced that he is aware of what is being said about him and the capital and announced that constant protesting has caused the capital to remain in its current state.
The Fourth District Representative said: “In my short three and a half years we are this close to solving the sewerage problem in Road Town. If we never had this lobbyist program, this sabotage and conspiracy against Biwater we would have solved this sewerage problem two years ago.”
He told his colleagues at the April 19 sitting of the House of Assembly that, “these protest and lobbyist movements have delayed this programme.”
In a direct response to the Opposition Leader’s comment, Scatliffe said: “They didn’t do it in their four years, now we are here and they are trying to make us look bad. We are going to get it done. We are only a little bit away from it. Soon the city will not be smelling stink Leader of the Opposition.”

mark is back.ndp all the way boy……
It is obvious that some people were cut out for politics and some were not. This is a clear case of one not cut out for politics. The vip is suffering the same fate as the country is suffering and that is mediocre leadership. listen to Vincent, juggy, malone, keith, fraser and you see the same mess reflected in our infrastructure, tourism, economy etc. How much longer must we suffer.
The man is a DIM BULB
@Cuse, ok, this one made me smile
We are in some real trouble people of the BVI.
How can people in their right mind support these people.
What is coming from our leaders is very much depressing.
It just makes you feel like just packing and leave this place.
Mr. Scatliffe, Biwater will not solve the Road Town sewerage problems. Biwater is proposing to install a pumping main from the pump house to the proposal treatment. What happen to the old sewer pipes that run under buildings in Road Town and pipes coming into Town? The Government needs to tell the people o f the BVI the truth, and stop paying Mr. C. Malone unnecessary monies.
dont mind the noise vincent, we got your back
Sorry but how can Bi-water be broke. Correct me if I missed something please but I thought Biwater was a self funded program – it costs the BVI nothing in capitol terms. The biwater firm in exchange for developing certain infrastructure get a lucrative contract to sell their mains water.
So why has it taken so long to get started?
Incompetence, Incompetence, Incompetence.
Political bickering, zero transparency, jealousy, attempts by certain individuals to make private fortunes out of the deal, more jealousy, and the usual third world bureaucratic mess that defines (AND HAS ALWAYS DEFINED) the BVI political elite.
Biwater is soooooo damn broke that they cannot get a loan. That is what stalling them and the whole of the VIP knows that. They just are just a bunch of dumb A$$E$.
Yes, just like Noel Lloyd, Patsy Lake and other PAM Members’ protest ‘stalled’ the Bates Development right? I swear this man has absolutely NO COMMON SENSE!!!!! This is not a dictatorship and we are allowed according to our Constitution to fight for our rights and be heard! Why not swear in VIP for another 4 years without elections, I mean, why not? All this bickering about VIP not doing well for the country is hampering development isn’t it? Just stop all this election talk and give the men an automatic additional 4 year term then the BVI will be the best thing on Earth! (**Sarcasm off**).
Now, really, if people see something wrong they should just sit and shut up? The fact that Biwater is BROKE and that Government dropped the ball on the BBay plant has NOTHING to do with protesting! The fact that this Government is short on cash despite receiving 22Mil with the IPOC case and spending on other nonsense has NOTHING to do with protesting! The fact that every other week people have to take their vehicle to the garage to change shocks, bearings etc. because of the state of our roads have NOTHING to do with protesting! What it has to do with is a set of incompetent lunatics like Scattliffe who was elected and made matters worst!! Just take a look at the nasty stupidly designed ghut that he started next to the market, with that big wall down the middle. Who puts a big wall in the middle of a LARGE GHUT hoping that it would HELP alleviate flooding? WTF? Is that project on hold because of protesting too? Tell me sir!! Enough is enough man!! Enjoy your last few months in there because you surely not getting back in! The closest you will get to the House next year is when visiting your family in the neighboring Scatliffe Alley!
@T2DB, …………..or go paint some more trees!
@T2DB, well said, he gone next election.
Scattliffe!! Please go sit quietly in a corner and do what you do best, NOTHING!!! All blah blah blah just go sit down for godsake man!!! Schups!! It’s always somebody else fault other than you guys. Why ask to be elected and reelected if nothing is ever your fault! Isn’t that the reason for being elected in the first damn place?? I swear you can’t make this stuff up!!!
