Virgin Gorda beats Tortola at Annual Tennis Tournament at Rosewood Little Dix Bay

Friday, June 1, 2012 – Rosewood Little Dix Bay Resort hosted their annual “Tortola versus Virgin Gorda Tennis Tournament” on Saturday 26 May.
There were a total of thirty participants made up of members of the Tortola Sports Club, resort guests, Virgin Gorda residents and Rosewood Little Dix Bay staff members. This highly anticipated doubles round robin tournament was won by the “Virgin Gorda Team” 19 matches to 15 after a gruelling four hours played in the hot BVI sun.
Mr. Kristian Hunter, a Peter Burwash International Tennis Pro who manages the Rosewood Little Dix Bay’s award-winning tennis program, coordinated and officiated the event. He said he was delighted with the turn out and was impressed by the sportsmanship and the competitive manner in which the games were played.
The BVI’s #1 ranked junior player, Paul Oliver, was awarded a prize for having played and won a tough “Match of the day” which he won on a tiebreak whilst Mr. Dane Hagen, a guest at Rosewood Little Dix Bay was awarded “Shot of the day” for his extravagant overhead smash.
Mr. Hunter explained that the return matches will be played at the Tortola Sports Club in November this year which will give the “Tortola Team” the opportunity to gain their revenge.
