Wendy Williams is set to arrive in the British Virgin Islands tonight to mark the beginning of what the BVI Tourist Board has promised to be a massive campaign which will put the territory on a reality show and gain exposure to millions of the talk-show host’s fans. BVITB officials are in high gear preparation mode.
Her flight is scheduled to arrive at the Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport around 9:00pm. But her film crew will arrive sometime after lunch and immediately begin filming activities in Virgin Gorda. The Wendy Williams Show will be taped in Scrub Island on October 14.
The show comes to the BVI as part of a six-week agreement with the BVITB that will see Williams and her production team featuring the BVI in a new “Watch and Win” promotion.
The promotion comprises 20 trip giveaways and the production is said to hold an audience of between 50 to 100 million viewers.
The collaboration will afford the BVI an additional four minutes of free airtime. Such exposure saves the territory at least a $50,000 price tag which is attached to a 30 second commercial spot in the Wendy Williams Show.
According to Chairman of the BVITB Neil Blyden, talks of this initiative began in January of this year. Broadcast of the recording is expected to begin sometime in March. But the announcement of the watch and win contest will begin in November with an announcement of Williams’ visit to the BVI.
“This is going to put the BVI in a place you can’t imagine,” the BVITB Chairman said, adding that the initiative would put the BVI in the largest market in the world constantly for three to six months.
Currently, the BVI receives 70 percent of its tourist visitors from North America.
Blyden told BVI News Online this morning “this is a great undertaking,” since November is the month that all television shows try to establish the highest ratings that will project its advertising potential for the year ahead.
“Wendy Williams has the kind of audience the BVI wants for the next 20 years,” Blyden said, adding that the group is a “well rounded” one.
He said he never expected that when he approached the production studio which manages Williams’ show, that the BVI would be used as the prime destination for the ratings month.

Waste of money
I think this is a great exposure for the BVI. And I do hope that other celebrities like Wendy, would come and enjoy the BVI.
By the way I really like Wendy show.
LOL the things we pump energy into but it is good for the exposure, as long as we have services to offer when ppl come here
Isn’t it possible to love two places differently and for different reasons as you would two of your children? Doesn’t mean the love is not true…
I know it sounds good to say that Wendy Williams “production is said to hold an audience of between 50 to 100 million viewers” thats nonsense LMAO. Wendy Williams show averages around 2 million viewers in the US daily on a good day lol. If she even makes it on the list of Top 10 list of Highest rated talk shows she would have barely made it. Glad she is coming to visit, but lets keep it real and stop trying to make her sound like a super star cause she is far from that level of fame in America.
she pull over 2 million in the UK so im sure its more than that in the USA why do you sound like a hater?
Do yah ting melee man.
This is going to be so great for the BVI………..
I dont think this is a good idea, but the timing is bad! We should be thinking of getting more for lest. We are looking at a global down turn. Can anything good come out this. someone need to check the checker!
