Cooper Island Beach Club to reopen by Easter
Over a month after hurricanes Irma and Maria hit the British Virgin Islands, Cooper Island Beach Club has announced that it plans to reopen to guests by Easter.
The beach club, which is one of the top tourism spots in the territory, made the announcement yesterday on social media.
“Cooper Island Beach Club will open to hotel guests on Sunday 1st April 2018. If our restaurant and retail services can open prior to that date, we shall announce it.”
It added: “Progress over the last month has been slower than we had hoped and following a full assessment of the damage, we must unfortunately remain closed until Easter.”
The beach club sustained major damage to several areas on its property including it administrative office.
“Our US agent in Florida will be contacting all guests due to stay with us prior to 31st March 2018,” it noted.
Minister of Tourism Dr D Orlando Smith said the tourism industry was one of the worst affect by the hurricanes.
