42 year-old motorist charged with resisting arrest

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) today announced that it has charged a 42-year-old resident of Long Look on Tortola with resisting arrest as well as a number of traffic-related offences.

Alatife Nickie was arrested and charged on March 31.

The RVIPF, which did not disclose details of the alleged incident, said Nickie will appear in the Magistrate’s Court on May 12.

He was granted police bail.

The five traffic-related charges Nickie now shoulders are:

  • Failing to stop at the sound of a siren
  • Reckless driving
  • Driving a motor vehicle when not secured by seatbelt
  • Driving without drivers license
  • And driving when not covered by insurance
