Seven residents of the Valley on Virgin Gorda are counting their blessing after they emerged alive from two serious motor vehicle accidents on their home island on Saturday, June 24.

Two of those injured were admitted to Peebles Hospital. The others were treated and released.

Reports reaching BVI News Online are that, in one of the two accidents, six people – including a baby and her mother – were traveling in a green Honda Civic motorcar.

The vehicle, which was being driven towards the Valley, apparently got out of control and slammed into a wall, resulting in various injuries to the occupants.

“People were just lying down all over the road and bawling,” said a resident who went to the scene after the crash.

The victims were taken to the Nurse Iris O’Neil Clinic, and then Peebles Hospital on Tortola.

One woman, who is said to be the mother of the baby involved, suffered serious injuries, including a dislocated hip, BVI News Online has been informed.

Meanwhile, in the other incident on Virgin Gorda, a man from the Valley was driving a white Mitsubishi pickup along Crusher Hill when the vehicle reportedly crashed into a rail and then overturned.

The driver, who was the only one inside the pickup, was taken to Peebles Hospital to be treated for various injuries.
