BREAKING NEWS: Third person charged in murder case

Essadro Jefferson being escorted from court on a previous occasion

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force this afternoon charged a third person in relation to the murder of David Springette outside the Wayside Bar in Fat Hogs Bay on the evening of June 21.

Springette, who was pronounced dead at the scene, had survived two previous attempts made on his life.

The man charged today with conspiracy to murder him is Essadro Jefferson, 23.

Jefferson was already at Her Majesty’s Prison in relation to the previous attempt to murder Springette in December last year. In that case, he is charged with attempted murder.

A date is yet to be set for him to appear in the Magistrate’s Court to face the new charge laid today.

The charge of conspiracy to murder Springette was not only laid against Jefferson, but also against the two persons charged last Friday with the murder.

Those two are 22 year-old native of St Kitts Shakeel Ryan, and 29 year-old Shakilla Hanley. They were not only charged last week with the murder of Springette, but also the fatal shooting of another man – Shawn Richards.

Richards was shot outside his residence in Long Look on the evening of May 6, but he succumbed on May 8.

Ryan and Hanley appeared before the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon and were placed on remand.
