A Fat Hogs Bay businessman was fined $2,000 after he was caught with 6.7 grams of cannabis last year.
Twenty-six-year-old Sequonne Moulon was fined after pleading guilty when he appeared before Magistrate Shawn Innocent on Friday.
He has six months to pay the $2,000 sum or, in default, will spend six months at Her Majesty’s Prison in Balsam Ghut.
The court heard that about 1:15 am on June 16 last year, police stopped and searched Moulon after noting that he was driving without a seatbelt.
During the search, law enforcers found a transparent bag containing green vegetable matter.
When asked about the contents of the bag, Moulon told the cops: “That there is a little weed.”
“You are going to lock me up for that?” Moulan reportedly asked while being arrested.
He was subsequently brought to the Road Town Police Station where he was charged.
His early guilty plea, the fact that he has no previous convictions were factors the court considered before sentencing the offender.
