Reports out of St Kitts are that Mervin O’Flaherty, who worked as a pilot and a prison officer in the British Virgin Islands, has been stabbed to death in his homeland of St Kitts.

He recently returned to his country to lay his mother to rest.

One of his brothers has been held in relation to the incident, which reportedly unfolded during an altercation at the family home in Lower Cayon about 7pm on Monday, October 9.

The St Kitts Kitts media said O’Flaherty was pronounced dead at JNF General Hospital.

“O’Flaherty had  recently returned home to St Kitts to attend the funeral of his mother [who is] a well-known food vendor in Cayon who was set to be laid to rest Wednesday,” the St Kitts and Nevis Observer said.

The incident brings to 20, the number of murders committed in St Kitts and Nevis since the start of the year.
