The national Under-12 boys’ football squad will depart the territory tomorrow to compete in the Global Premier Soccer Caribbean Showcase in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
BVI Football Association coaches, Cassandra Gregg and John Riley, are leading the BVI boys to the two-day event.
More than 100 teams have participated in the event over the last two years. These teams are from various states and provinces in the US and Canada as well as countries in the region such as the Dominican Republic, US Virgin Islands, and Costa Rica.
Coach Riley said the highly-competitive tournament is a good opportunity for the young BVI ballers to gain experience and develop skills.
“We have a talented group travelling to enjoy and compete at the Showcase and they have been progressing steadily, tactically, technically, physically, and mentally,” Coach Riley said.
“The Tournament will provide a friendly but competitive learning environment that will further their education both on and off the pitch as they see how other teams and players conduct themselves before, during, and after games,” Riley added.
The national squad comprises Johari Lacey, Jefferson Frank, T’Khoy Morton, Omari Simmons, Ryan Lettsome, Azarni Callwood, Derion Hodge, Jaden and Jadon Abrams, Joel Mars, Lewis Munn, Adrain Padilla, Nicolas Haycraft, Ollie Henderson, Jeriek Samuel, and Deshaun Richardson.
