BVIEC to residents: Pay bills to fund reconstruction

The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) said residents should pay their bills to help fund the reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by category 5 hurricane Irma, adding that its online payment portal has been restored.

Nearly 100 percent of the BVIEC’s utility poles were damaged during the hurricane on September 6.

The electricity company yesterday said five of its electrical feeders are semi-operational so far, and two are fully operational.

It added: “BVIEC is appealing to all its valued customers to pay all outstanding amounts online as greater efforts can be made to acquire the resources necessary to reconstruct the national electricity grid for the benefit of all customers.”

The bills that you owe are what they are asking you to pay. Obviously they are not charging you for what you have not used.

BVIEC now join the psychological NDP games. Yes everyone should pay their bills when government pays them but one month of not paying BVIEC is not the reason that they do not have money.

The failure of the NDP Government to pay BVIEC the millions they owe them is why the restoring of electricity will stop.

BVIEC stop playing with our heads like the NDP does. Just tell the truth.

BVIEC please go tell them NDP gang to go get back our $7mill their partner gone with for that plane and give it to you from trying to make us feel guilty when the real culprit for the restoring of power project stopping is the NDP.

If its true the government is the biggest culprit for failing to pay its bills what a bad example to be setting and further reason they should publish their accounts…the Premier should insist on the Minister of Finance to produce transparent accounts, I can’t believe its not happened…..
