The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) said residents should pay their bills to help fund the reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by category 5 hurricane Irma, adding that its online payment portal has been restored.
Nearly 100 percent of the BVIEC’s utility poles were damaged during the hurricane on September 6.
The electricity company yesterday said five of its electrical feeders are semi-operational so far, and two are fully operational.
It added: “BVIEC is appealing to all its valued customers to pay all outstanding amounts online as greater efforts can be made to acquire the resources necessary to reconstruct the national electricity grid for the benefit of all customers.”
