Governor Augustus Jaspert said Cabinet will be implementing plans to improve security in the British Virgin Islands.
He said Cabinet forged plans to bolster national security through collaboration with Police Commissioner Michael Matthews and members of other local law enforcement agencies.
“These [plans] will be explained in detail next week,” Jaspert said in a media release on Friday afternoon, February 23.
He noted that re-establishing streetlights around Road Town Police Station is one part of Cabinet’s plans.
“I am grateful for the UK’s support in funding extra electrical teams to support our efforts here. Security is everyone’s responsibility and we must all do our bit to keep the territory safe,” Governor Jaspert added.
He made the statement amid a series of successive shootings on the main island of Tortola.
