Cable TV laments ‘malicious acts’

BVI Cable TV said, as shown in this photograph, there was ‘tampering’ with its fiber system. It added that “this malicious act has caused a great inconvenience” to customers from Meyers to West End and all villages in between, along with Jost Van Dyke.

BVI Cable TV has claimed that a number of its fiber optic cables are being damaged mainly as a result of ‘malicious acts’ in a number of communities on Tortola, resulting in widespread disruption in service.

Based on photographs posted on the company’s Facebook page on June 9, 13, and 20 this year, the cables are most often cut.

This line was ‘damaged’ in the Luck Hill area, BVI Cable TV said.

According to BVI Cable TV, this fiber optic cable was cut in Cane Garden Bay.

BVI Cable TV stated that, as shown in this photo, there was ‘tampering’ with the 500 cable line. The company added that “this malicious act has caused another great inconvenience to customers”.

BVI Cable TV is not the only company that has been hit apparently by vandals in recent times. Up to March this year, telecom company FLOW complained bitterly about serial vandals cutting its transmission lines in different sections of Tortola, sometimes disrupting service to hundreds of customers.
