A woman caught on camera stealing money from a businessman’s pants has been granted $30,000 bail in the Magistrate’s Court.
Rebecca Fonseca pleaded guilty to theft when she appeared before Magistrate Ayanna Baptiste DaBreo this month.
The court heard that the complainant operates a business at Vanterpool Estate, Tortola.
Reports are that the complainant – an unsuspecting businessman – hung his pants at his residence and went to bed on the evening of April 3 this year.
The pants had $1,000 cash inside, the court heard.
It is reported that, on the following day, the businessman discovered that the money was missing.
Upon reviewing his personal CCTV footage, he saw a woman who was later identified as Fonseca entering the area where his pants was hung, and removing something from the pair of pants.
The theft was reported to the police and Fonseca was arrested. The court heard that she admitted to the offence prior to her court appearance.
She will sentenced on February 6 next year.
In the meantime, Fonseca told the court that she has returned the money to the businessman.
