A vessel washed up on the shore of Cane Garden Bay beach Friday morning after being subjected to choppy waters in the area.

It is further understood that no passengers were aboard the vessel at the time.

Friday morning’s boating incident comes amid a high surf warning that is in effect for small vessels and sea bathers.

A media release from the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) on Friday said the BVI is currently experiencing adverse weather because of “the remnants of a frontal boundary will move across the region”.

“This will result in passing showers across the local waters, with some of the activity affecting the islands. Given the scattered and fast moving nature of these showers, rainfall accumulations are expected to remain light. Surface high pressure over the west-central Atlantic will continue to result in breezy conditions over the area with east to southeast winds between 10 and 20 miles per hour with higher gusts expected,” the DDM said.

It added: “The possibility for rip currents is high especially on northern facing beaches. Persons should exercise caution while bathing or adhere to marine flags flying on beaches or information posted on the signs to entrance of these locations.”

So the mooring balls need some work in Cane then???
Cane is also supposed to be a off limits Harbour when the North Swell is running due to the extra risk of breaking the mooring but as some visitors don’t listen – maybe increasing the strength of the moorings might be a good idea or servicing them more often.

You Made valid points, however, some of those boaters don’t want to pay the mooring fees so they drops their anchor which won’t withstand the surf action in Cane Garden Bay.

This news article is very lacking in details. Besides the bad weather, are those lifejackets in the cockpit? Are the people ok? Is it a snubber or a line for a mooring ball on the front? Was there any follow up on this article?
