Cultural Food Fair this Friday

Local farmers, fishermen and entrepreneurs will be displaying their products and culinary skills at a cultural food fair being held on Friday.

The food fair will be held behind the Central Administration Complex in Road Town, beginning at 10 in the morning.

The fair is in observance of World Food Day, the Department of Agriculture has said.

Chief Agricultural Officer, Arona Fahie-Forbes said the fair aims to unite producers, supermarkets, proprietors and the community to create what she described as ‘a sense of BVI identity and an overall greater appreciation for the need to produce more’.

“The food fair will create a venue for crop producers’ (farmers), fishermen, and entrepreneurs to showcase their talents in cooking, gardening, bakes, pastries, preserves, poetry and produce,” she added.

World Food Day is actually held annually on October 16. Some 150 countries are said to observe the day.

The theme this year is Our Actions Are Our Future — A #ZeroHunger World By 2030 is possible.
