A native of the Dominican Republic, Brent Browne, has been arrested and charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer during an incident at the Festival Village in Road Town, Tortola.

The 24-year-old resident of Long Bush, who was charged on August 13, is yet to appear in the Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charges.

Reports reaching BVI News Online are that police officers went to the Festival Village after they received reports of a fight at the location.

When they arrived, the fight had ended.

The police however saw Browne and tried to search him and his vehicle. But Browne allegedly tried to prevent the law enforcers from conducting the search.

A physical struggle allegedly ensured between both parties and that was when Browne reportedly assaulted an officer.

Further reports are that, when police eventually conducted the search, nothing illegal was found on Browne or in his vehicle.
