Former world heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield is in the British Virgin Islands.

It is not clear when he arrived into the territory but the American was spotted at D’coalpot restaurant in Carrot Bay recently.

Sources told BVI News that the boxer is in the territory on vacation.

Leader of Opposition Andrew Fahie said it was a great honour that Holyfield chose to visit the territory, especially after the hurricanes.

Fahie said the famous boxer will be meeting with local officials at a location that has not been disclosed to media.

“We have a meet-and-greet scheduled for today (January 13) where I will be given the opportunity to officially welcome him to the Virgin Islands.”

“I am looking forward to our time together where we will discuss many matters of importance to all concerned while ensuring that he enjoys himself while in the Virgin Islands. So, while Mr Holyfield is in the Virgin Islands, let us all be sure to give him a warm Virgin Islands greeting anytime we come in contact with him and his delegation accompanying him,” Fahie told BVI News.

Holyfield is a four-time world heavyweight champion. During his professional career, the 55-year-old defeated living boxing legend Mike Tyson twice.

Fahie next BVI Premier! When other politicians go low and bicker amongst themselves, he stays high and focus on what matters; looking out for his district and the people. Just imagine if he is given the opportunity to apply this practice across the BVI.

I don’t know him, but I am impressed from afar that he held his tongue on this and by what I read in news stories about what he has been doing to fight for the area he represents. Public appearance, impressions and diplomacy exercised matters when you are a politician. He seems to rise about the fray and is able to look at the bigger picture.

Poor chap was bankrupt and conned by a fraudster called Creflo Dollar posing as a church. I hope Evander has now seen the light regarding the US evangelist scam
