ICWI giving back to BVI community for 50th anniversary

ICWI President Paul Lalor

The Insurance Company of the West Indies (ICWI) is in its 50th year since inception and now plans to include the BVI in recognizing the milestone.

ICWI President, Paul Lalor, was careful not to give away too much detail on the company’s plans for the BVI but said ICWI will be focusing on community-related initiatives.

Lalor, who described ICWI as a community-oriented company, said these initiatives are ICWI’s way of giving back to the territory.

In the business aspect of things, Lalor told BVI News ICWI has settled all insurance claims from the September 2017 hurricanes.

The company completed settlements several weeks ago and is now at the ready for 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which began last month.

Lalor said ICWI was able to payout at least of 20 percent of the total sums insured to each of its customers. ICWI received some 140 insurance claims after the 2017 disasters.

That is more or less the same payout percentage other local insurers offered, Lalor said.

The ICWI President then reiterated his company’s commitment to conducting fair and reliable business to residents in the BVI and said news the company’s way of doing business already has begun to circulate in factions of the territory.

This has resulted in the company receiving an increase in the number of customers since last year’s hurricanes, Lalor said.

Besides hiring lots of people and directly contributing to the economy? When will people in BVI learn to appreciate what they have and stop acting so entitled, always expecting more? shameful.
