Inspections on Anegada ahead of Lobster Fest

PRESS RELEASE: A team of inspectors from the Environmental Health Division will be visiting the Island of Anegada tomorrow November 15 to conduct an assessment of all food premises on the island in preparation for Lobster Fest 2017.

“As part of this visit, a number of things will be happening.  We will be conducting premises inspections of participating Lobster Fest establishments, reviewing Liquor Licence Applications, replacing food handlers cards and distributing Aqua Tablets,” said Environmental Health Officer, Candaicy David.

“Owners and operators of food and bar establishments who are applying for or renewing liquor licenses should have a copy of their application along with a copy of their 2017 Trade Licence received from Inland Revenue Department”, David said.

David further stated: “We will also be replacing food handler’s cards once we can verify that cards were valid pre-hurricane.”

Persons are reminded that they are still required to satisfy the pre-requisites before lost or damaged certificates can be replaced. Persons are also reminded to bring a passport size photograph, their social security card, work permit and or picture identification to have their card replaced.

What is the point of inspecting places that aren’t open or ready yet and all their staff are not in island at the moment. We had to wait till June for thelast inspection due to the inspector being constantly off work, now they want to reinspect after 5 months…. Has all the establishments that reopened on Tortola/Virgin Gorda/Jost been inspected or is it just Anegada that get inspected twice a year when the LAW states that the premises only need to be inspected yearly!
