The Islanders completed an eventful weekend of football on Sunday (November 20) with a battling 3-1 victory over One Love Football Club.
Julian Davidson (in the third minute) and Fitzroy Daley (in the 15th minute) settled any nerves early and gave the Islanders a 2-0 lead in the BVI Football Association Men’s National League game.
Richard Morgan pulled one back for One Love in the 31st minute.
At 2-1 going into the second half, it was anyone’s game.
The teams traded attacking endeavor with defensive solidarity until Kevin Fisher (89th minute) secured another 3 points for the Islanders, who remain atop the standings with 24 points, and unbeaten this season.
The Sugar Boys are tucked into second place, just 3 points adrift.
The Rebels Football Club and the Wolues Football Club are nestled into third and fourth. The pair was deadlocked after a six-goal thriller on Saturday.
Kevin Carragher’s 7th minute goal put the Wolues ahead early, but Curtly Peters (16th minute) levelled the game, before Deangelo Thomas (29th minute) gave the Rebels a 2-1 lead.
However, Carragher scored his second from the penalty spot right on half time, to make it 2-2.
Timothy Parsons (63rd) gave the Wolues a 3-2 lead, but Peters (in the 72nd minute) made it 3-3.
Despite a thrilling last 10 minutes, neither team would score again.
At the other end of the table, Old Madrid secured their 5th place position and gave themselves a chance of a top four finish with a 3-0 second half demolition of Virgin Gorda United.
Kenmore Peters netted twice in the 48th and 62nd minutes, while Vaughn Homer scored in the 53rd minute.
