Teen sentenced for dissing police in Sea Cows Bay

Juwan Richardson has been fined in the Magistrate’s Court for resisting arrest and threatening police.

The 19-year-old was fined after he pleaded guilty to the offences when he appeared before Magistrate Ayanna Baptiste-DaBreo.

He reportedly threatened to ‘f**** up’ a police officer who arrested him.

The court heard that, on July 24 last year, police officers were on mobile patrol when they observed Richardson banging on an apartment door in the Sea Cows Bay area.

The police officers approached Richardson, and the teen became ‘aggressive’.

“What the f**** you all want? Get the f**** from here,” he reportedly told the law enforcement officers.

He was told to desist from using indecent language, but Richardson ignored the order.

He reportedly said: “Who the f**** is police…? Why the f*** ayo come here? To arrest man?”

Richardson was then informed that he was being arrested, but he started to resist.

While being transported to the police station, he reportedly told one of the police officers: “You think this is over? I am going to f**** you up. I am going to deal with you.”

Richardson was subsequently charged.

In court, he explained that he was drunk at the time of the incident, adding that he apologized to the police when he became sober.

In handing down the sentence, Magistrate Baptiste-DaBreo noted that being drunk is no excuse for being disorderly. She said no one forced the youngster to drink.

The magistrate further advised Richardson to know his drinking limits.

A break-down of the fines shows that he will pay $350 for resisting arrest and $200 for using threatening language.

If the fines are not paid by March 31, Richardson will spend 60 days at Her Majesty’s Prison.
