Local author launching children’s storybook

PRESS RELEASE: Local Author, Editor, and Poetry guru, Dr Patricia Turnbull will launch another of her literary pieces called ‘Ti Koko and Kush Kush’.

Ti Koko and Kush Kush is a poem-story style of the colourfully illustrated book that blends environmental themes for a wonderful comeback story for children ages four to nine, and for teens and adults who enjoy reading to younger children.

The book takes readers to a Caribbean garden where a friendship between two unlikely friends blossoms as the story develops.

Dr Turnbull said Ti Koko and Kush Kush is perfect for boys and girls who are still coping with loss of their homes or sadness because of hurricanes and other natural or manmade disasters and strife.

The book is available in Tortola at Mellow Moods Café, J&C Trading, and from the author. The Caribbean storybook is also available on the Internet at SPDbooks.org goo.gl/atoJFo.

Dr Patricia Turnbull is also the author of ‘Rugged Vessels’ and the landmark VI historical memory titled ‘Can These Stones Talk?’  Awards and honours include a Summer Institute for Creative Writing Fellow, University of Miami, and the British Virgin Islands Badge of Honour.

The author’s poetry also appears in Longman’s Caribbean New Voices 1; Sent Lisi: Poems and Art of Saint Lucia; and Where I See the Sun – Contemporary Poetry in the Virgin Islands.

Director of the Department of Culture, Mrs Luce Hodge Smith is inviting the public to attend and support the event.

She said: “As usual I am pleased to see the work of local authors who play such an important role in the preservation of the Virgin Island’s Cultural Heritage”

The launching is expected to take place on Sunday, February 18 at 3pm at the Queen Elizabeth II Park.

The Department of Culture continues to support local authors and develop the Virgin Islands’ cultural heritage and traditions.
