UPDATE: Man found hanging identified
The man who was found hanging in a wooden shed near his family home in the Mayaba area of Tortola last evening has been identified as Luvan Francis, otherwise known as Dust.
He is said to be just over 40 years old.
Reports reaching BVI News Online are that a relative of the deceased became concerned after she did not see him for several hours yesterday, August 2.
She eventually went to search for him in the wooden shed where he used to hang out.
When the woman reached the location, she pounced upon Francis’ body hanging by a length of rope that was tied to the roof of the shed.
She raised an alarm, and members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) were contacted.
The police went to the scene, where a doctor pronounced Francis dead.
His body was taken to Peebles Hospital morgue.
The RVIPF, in the meantime, said its members are still investigating the matter.
“Police are investigating the death of male whose body was found hanging in a shed near his home in Mayaba. The man was pronounced dead at the scene at around 9:15pm,” the RVIPF said last evening.
