Peebles Hospital

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has confirmed that a man has been hospitalized following reports of a shooting in Huntums Ghut on Saturday night.

The gunshot victim, whose name police withheld, is said to be in stable condition.

“[He] will remain hospitalized for treatment,” the RVIPF said this morning.

Reports are that the man was at Maria’s Bar in Huntums Ghut around minutes after 9pm when he was shot.

It is not clear if he was directly involved in the shootings.

Police, in the meantime, said it is still probing the incident.

“Police are asking persons who were at the bar or in the immediate area and saw something that will progress the investigation to contact the Intelligence Unit at 368-9339,” the RVIPF said.

News of the man’s gunshot injury comes more than a day after a BVI News published reports of gunfire in the aforementioned area.

Residents reported hearing at least six gunshots.
