Social media personality Ramoamasagana ‘Masa’ Pemberton has been found guilty of keeping an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Magistrate Ayanna Baptiste-DaBreo gave the verdict this afternoon (May 19) while stating that the evidence against Pemberton was overwhelming.

She noted evidence led by the prosecution that Pemberton’s fingerprints were found on various parts of the weapon including the gun trigger, handgrip, trigger guard, and the magazine.

“I found that the Crown has proven that he (Pemberton) kept a firearm,” Magistrate Baptiste-DaBreo said.

She also noted that Pemberton’s testimony in relation to how his fingerprints ended up on the weapon was not believable.

Pemberton had claimed that he discovered a case with the weapon near his Purcell Estate residence, and so he examined it. He further said he touched the case and its contents while doing the examination.

“Having examined the explanation that was given by the defendant… I do not believe the defendant’s explanation to be credible,” said Magistrate Baptiste-DaBreo.

As it relates to the bullets, the magistrate concluded that Pemberton “had unlawful possession of the 15 rounds of ammunition”.

Pemberton is to be sentenced on June 16.
