Men charged for home burglaries, theft

An alleged burglar is being accused of entering two homes on Tortola this month, walking past the homeowners, and removing certain items.

Based on those allegations, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) charged David Turnbull with two counts of burglary.

Turnbull, 25, is from Purcell Estate. The RVIPF said he was arrested and charged on August 26.

The homeowners reportedly did not know Turnbull at the time the alleged burglaries were committed.

Mervin Flaherty

Meanwhile, the RVIPF stated that, in another case, it has charged a resident of McNamara with theft.

The accused is Mervin Flaherty.

Police said Flaherty, who was arrested and charged on August 21, appeared before the Magistrate’s Court and was placed on remand. It did not give details of the allegations.
