New 300-seat vessel for Road Town Fast Ferry

Road Town Fast Ferry’s Lady Caroline

A new 300-seater catamaran has been added to the Road Town Fast Ferry line, bringing its number of vessels to two.

The three-level, 30-meter vessel will be servicing the Tortola-to-St Thomas, and Anegada routes. It will also be providing private charters.

Captain Jahneal Hodge said the one-year-old vessel was launched on Friday in time for the 5th annual Agenda Lobster Festival.

“We brought the vessel for the new season and it came after Irma and Maria,” he told members of the media.

“A lot of people like the new boat. It’s big and nice. It’s comfortable,” he remarked.

The vessel is equipped with flat-screen televisions, a bar, and an entertainment system.

The catamaran is named after his paternal grandmother Lady Caroline while the sister vessel is named in honour of his paternal aunt, Lady Daisy.

While there was no official ceremony, Hodge said he and his three-member crew celebrated the new vessel with a staff party.

Commenting on the newest addition to the sea transport system, Director of the BVI Tourist Board Sharon Flax Brutus said: “For us, that’s a signal that the BVI is alive and well because, in the midst of everything that is happening, we are launching new ferries.”

“We are happy. That is their (Road Town Fast Ferry) commitment to the industry. They saw the need,” she added.
