No charge yet in murder case

The bar where Franklyn Fahie was murdered

The bar where Franklyn Fahie was murdered

There was a tense calm yesterday around the bar where a gunman committed the British Virgin Islands’ first reported murder for 2017.

When BVI News Online visited the area in the afternoon, no one was seen in and around the establishment owned by the murder victim, Franklyn Fahie.

The doors of the once swinging business were closed.

A few steps away from the bar entrance, there was an apparent bloodstain on the ground – one of the telltale signs of the brutality that unfolded three nights prior.

Information Officer at the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Diane Drayton, up to yesterday afternoon, told BVI News Online that no one was charged in relation to the murder of the bar owner Franklyn Fahie, 61.

Drayton declined to specify if anyone was held.

A usually impeccable source said a young man from Purcell Estate was taken into custody for questioning.

The murder was committed by a masked gunman who entered the bar on Friday night, shot Fahie, and robbed one of the male patrons inside the establishment.

He then escaped on foot in the area.

Fahie died before daybreak Saturday while undergoing surgery at Peebles Hospital.
