Pastor Turnbull passes away in hospital

Former President of the BVI Basketball Association and Pastor at the Church of God of Prophecy Word of Faith on Virgin Gorda, Steve Turnbull, has died.

His family has announced that he passed away on August 7 at Peebles Hospital.

Pastor Turnbull also served the territory in various other capacities, including Electronics teacher at Elmore Stoutt High School, basketball coach, Acting General Manager at the BVI Electricity Corporation, electrical inspector, musician, and businessman.

“He will be greatly missed by all,” the family said, adding that funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Pastor Turnbull is survived by a number of relatives including his wife Carol; three daughters – Afiya Smith, Alethia Turnbull-Thomas and Athema Turnbull; his father Calvin; two sisters; and one brother.
