Twenty-five uniformed officers were awarded yesterday for good conduct and long service to the British Virgin Islands.

A number of residents showed up to witness the moment, which was part of a grand celebration in honour of Queen Elizabeth’s 91st birthday.

The annual parade took place this time round at the vacant lot behind the Central Administration Complex. It involved uniformed bodies, youth organisations, schools, and service clubs.

The service men and woman awarded are employed to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), Her Majesty’s Prison, or the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Services.

The five police officers awarded for their service (18 years) are: Constable Douglas Blyden, Inspector Israel Sergeant, Constable Dwight Williams, Constable Joanne George, and Constable Lola Stevens.

The five police officers awarded for service (25 years) are: Superintendent Jacquline Vanterpool, Inspector Adrian Kartick, Sergeant Donna Monsanto, Inspector Dariel Robinson, and Inspector Smyrna Brewley.

The two police officers who received awards for service (30 years) are: Chief inspector Paula Hazel-Alleyne, and Chief Inspector Dennis Jones.

Turning to the fire fighters, the four awarded for service (25 years) are: Chief Fire Officer Zebalon Mclean, Leading Fire Officer Samuel Lettesome, Sub Officer Alexander Parillon, and Fire Officer Walden Powell.

The five who received awards for service (30 years) are: Station Officer Melvin Jeffers, Sub Officer Victor Williams, Sub officer Geraldo Barry, Deputy Chief Fire Officer William Penn, and Station Officer Tyronne Caddle.

Meanwhile, in relation to prison officers, the two who received awards for service (18 years) are: Grade 1 Officer Rudolph Jackson, and Grade 1 Officer Ava Donovan. And Principal Officer Alexander Mills was awarded for long service and good conduct – 30 years.
