Works at the police headquarters at the Sir Olva Georges Plaza in Road Town has begun.

Autland Heavy Equipment Company Limited will restore the law enforcement facility at a cost of $816,467.21.

Works Minister Mark Vanterpool has said the project is expected to be completed in six months.

Works include refitting the roof, restoring the interior walls, installing furnishings and fittings, the minister said.

“The Deputy Governor’s office has been overseeing the project, with the Ministry of Communications and Works,” said Vanterpool.

The building sustained major damage during the September 2017 hurricanes. Police Commissioner and his team has since relocated to the RiteWay building in Pasea Estate, Tortola.

For nearly $900k we could have a new modern police station in the right location, this is completely the wring place to spend so much money, it should be a square for tourists. The COP office should be with the poice station

I think all this should have been invested to have the road town police station and the Headquarters in one location. So the cost to do both repairs could be as one.

Remember the current police headquarters used to be a government ministry building. It was never an appropriate location for the police headquarters. Spend the money sensibly and construct proper facilities for the police headquarters in a more appropriate location. RDA, stop this madness.

Mark don’t try to sound important here and make people feel you have something to do with these projects, these are all RDA doings, so please go and sit down Mark. You are nothing but a figure head now, but that’s the best thing, keep you away from those cash. Mr. CEO Bayly, please stay awake and keep you eyes focus on those projects, please ensure no cost overruns.

At this stage shouldn’t there at least be a plan in place before we throw around all remaining cash?

Why can the CoP and his hounds return to the RTPS up by the Botanic Gardens? Why waste all this money on a building to house them? Use the funds wisely. The is too much segregation going on in that Police force.
