Residents get deadline to remove damaged vehicles

Persons hoping to salvage vehicles that were left in public spaces, after being thrashed by the hurricanes, now have until the end of the month to retrieve them.

The Department of Waste Management said, after October 30, damaged vehicles located in public parking lots and on roadsides will be considered derelicts.

“Thereafter, the department will be collecting and disposing of all derelict vehicles as cleanup efforts continue,” the department said.

Following the hurricanes, an increased number of vehicles have been sighted on public property around the territory.

Residents have described them as an eyesore, hinderance and – in some cases – a danger to the public.
