Riteway Supermarket in Road Town has been robbed again.

Masked robbers stormed the business establishment on Flemming Street shortly before 8pm today, April 19.

The robbers took an amount of money and then reportedly disappeared behind the supermarket.

No one was injured.

Less than a year ago, (on June 13, 2016) masked gunmen robbed the said RiteWay supermarket of an undetermined sum of money. They also fired a shot but no one was injured. The robbers, who then escaped in the area behind the supermarket, are yet to be apprehended.

Im assuming everyone that has commented so far are old farts in the community. Im 24 years old and this is my 2 cents. It doesnt matter if it is NDP or VIP, Expats or Locals. What matters is and it is very important is our own Police Force. Im not bashing them, this island is 19km long and 5km wide and you mean to tell me we unable to apprehend criminals? Tortola can fit into the US like 1000x and they can find someone with evidence as small as a teardrop. We need help BVI. I dont know what training our resources the BVI has but it is no where enough to even catch a fly.

With all this crime the ndp didn’t see it fit to properly fund the police. The Governor had to step in. The ndp really heartless.

Stop blame the expats. The young people need to find work to do. The same way the expats can find work. The owners of the Rite Way building need to change the entrance. It should be to the front where the Rite Way sign is. That’s just my two cents

Certainly Agree. Block that entrance/exit off. They don’t need anyone to tell them that. Should have been done alon time ago.

Closing time is fine since most of the businesses in the vinicity are usualy still open at the time. I do think that after a certin time, stop accepting cash. Might be difficult for some persons they would just have to shop earlier.

There is a TV monitor inside being used for entertainment. Have it set up as a surveillance system to monitor what is going on in and around the building. Help to keep customers and employee safe.

Another question why are the security only posted inside?

This place need to close by 6:00 pm or
no cash after 6:00. It is time we move to
to a cashless society, credit cards or ATH cards.
