‘Minor flooding’ could occur in the British Virgin Islands on Wednesday as a result of another “active tropical wave” affecting the area.

The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) gave that forecast on August 29.

The DDM said the weather is forecast to be generally cloudy with “periodic showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms”.

There is also a moderate chance of thunderstorms overnight, the DDM said.

Small craft advisory

Winds are expected to range between 19 to 33 kilometres per hour and wave heights will range from five to seven feet.

“A small craft advisory is in effect for the coastal waters on the Atlantic side of the islands,” DDM said.

The BVI has been affected by a series of relatively minor tropical waves since the start of the 2018 hurricane season.

Good that the Disney Fantasy ship came to Tortola yesterday during good weather. I guess they will have a rainy/windy day in St. Thomas today.

Minor flooding seems to mean my living room is underwater. Major flooding must be when I need to snorkel to get out my house then.
