Three rescued amid rough sea conditions
Two women and a man were rescued at Smugglers Cove Beach in the British Virgin Islands this afternoon, March 6.
The three were swimming despite the presence of warning signs at the location, BVI News Online has been informed.
“They were swimming even though the red flags were right there… Then they got caught in the rip current.”
“The life ring was used, and an off-duty police man and another man went to their aid,” said one source, who also underscored the importance of having life guards deployed at beaches.
The authorities, in the meantime, have urged persons to exercise caution as the British Virgin Islands continues to experience rough sea conditions.
As a result, red flags have been flying at Smugglers Cove, Long Bay (Tortola), Cappoons Bay, Brewer’s Bay, Trunk Bay, Rogues Bay, Josiah’s Bay, Lambert Beach, Little Bay, and The Baths.
Yellow flags, in the meantime, are flying at Cane Garden Bay, and Long Bay (Beef Island).
