Thunderstorms, possible flooding forecast this week — DDM

The British Virgin Islands is being told to brace for a ‘sharp increase in showers and thunderstorms’ beginning Thursday, May 3.

The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) issued the warning on Wednesday.

It said these weather patterns are expected to continue into the weekend.

“For Friday, scattered to numerous showers with thunderstorms are forecast to affect the region, some of which can affect the territory into Saturday and Sunday,” the DDM said.

The disaster department added: “As showers are expected to be numerous there is a possibility of flooding. Residents are encouraged to take the necessary precautions to safeguard life and property.”
