Update: Police say robber at C&D used local accent

Police have released information partially describing the robber who escaped with hundreds of dollars on Saturday night (April 22) after he held up two persons outside C&D Superette located in Hannah’s Estate – a short distance from the main entrance of Nanny Cay.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) this afternoon said: “The perpetrator is described as about 6’1 in height, slim built, and spoke with a local accent. He was at the time wearing a dark long sleeve shirt, a dark colored pants, and his face was covered with a dark-coloured material.”

As BVI News Online previously reported, police said the robbery took place shortly after the operator of the establishment closed the building.

“Investigations indicate that around 10:40pm, the proprietor and a male worker had closed the store for the evening and were preparing to leave when a masked male approached one of the workers, poked him with a hard object in his side, and demanded money.”

“After obtaining a bag with the store’s proceeds, the assailant then approached the second worker making similar demands but received nothing. The masked male then ran across the public road onto a minor road in Hannah’s and made his escape,” the RVIPF further said.

It stated that investigations are ongoing, and no one was injured in the incident.

The robbery comes on the heels of another that took place at RiteWay Supermarket on Flemming Street in Road Town shortly before 8pm, April 19. In this incident, the RVIPF said “the assailant is described as black, slim built, in his twenties, about 5’9” tall, and spoke with a local accent”. He was at the time wearing all black with a hoody.
