Witnesses coming forward after murder – Police
While noting that there is still a ‘large number of persons’ who are yet to come forward regarding the fatal shooting of David ‘Mooney’ Springette last evening, June 21, police said they have been exploring links with a number of recent incidents.
It did not specify those incidents.
But, in December last year, Springette was shot and wounded near The Stickett in Long Look. That was the second of at least three attempts to murder him.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), in a media release this afternoon, expressed gratitude to the witnesses who have been showing up.
Over the years, the RVIPF has been lamenting the failure of witnesses to give information, adding that such posture was a major stumbling block in the investigation of homicides.
“Police are actively conducting enquiries in the area of the shooting, and are exploring links with a number of recent incidents,” the RVIPF said.
“The officer in charge of the investigation, DCI Hazel, wishes to thank witnesses who have come forward to assist the police. DCI Hazel states that there are still a large number of persons who have yet to come forward in relation to the murder.”
Police also used the opportunity to make an appeal for more people with information to “contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit on 368-9339, the Major Crime Team on 468-5678, or Crime Stoppers 800-8477 where the identity of the caller will remain anonymous”.
