25 new jobs
When BVI News Online interviewed him last week, businessman and musician Quito Rymer said he was yet to determine the exact number of new workers he will hire across his businesses in Cane Garden Bay as he prepares to open his 21-room hotel in December.
In a media release this afternoon, Rymer, who also operates Quito’s Gazebo restaurant that is undergoing major upgrade, said he will need 25 more employees.
“This new venture is contributing significantly to the local economy, having created many construction jobs and creating an additional 25 jobs once the property is operational. It is also a great addition to the BVI’s tourism sector, which is the second pillar of the country’s economy,” Rymer said.
He gave a break-down of how the new recruits will be spread across his businesses.
“At present, there are 17 persons employed at the restaurant. A total of 13 additional staff will be hired to fill the positions of waiters, dishwashers, bartenders, chefs, transportation personnel, gift shop clerk, and a food and beverage manager.”
“12 additional employees will also be needed to help manage the front and back of the house operations of the new hotel. These positions include: front desk assistants, house keeping and laundry personnel. With Quito’s Inn expansion, there will be an even greater need for higher quality services, with many new job opportunities created,” added Rymer.
He noted that he and his wife Kim committed to an ‘ambitious undertaking’ when they decided to expand and rebuild Quito’s Inn – the hotel that he said has been part of the Cane Garden Bay scene since 1989.
Commenting further on the hotel, Rymer said: “This new 6-floor structure will include 12 deluxe rooms, 9 suites, a conference room, gift shop, spa, swimming pool, and underground parking. Quito’s Gazebo is also undergoing major upgrades to enhance guests’ dining experience at its two restaurants – casual dining on the lower floor and beach chic fine dining Upstairs.”
“The ethos and concept of the new property is ‘Your Home Away From Home’, delivering a first-class experience to guests, whilst still retaining the heritage and friendliness Quito’s is world renowned for,” added Rymer.
