6 arrested, 2 vessels detained in cocaine seizure near Anguilla
The following is a media release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).
As a result of a joint international anti-narcotic smuggling operation involving U.S. law enforcement authorities, international partners, the UK National Crime Agency and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, the RVIPF Marine Branch on Friday, in cooperation with the Royal Anguilla Police Force and HM Anguilla Customs Department intercepted two vessels within Anguillan territorial waters and took them to Anguilla.
Six persons were arrested and two vessels containing a total of 60 bales of what is suspected to be cocaine, estimated to be over 1.5 metric tonnes, were seized.
The RAPF and Anguilla Customs have taken over investigations into this matter.
This success characterizes the ongoing international collaboration of law enforcement entities throughout the Caribbean which continues to disrupt and dismantle organised criminality that can negatively impact the lives of everyone.
