Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) currently boasts an impressive 98 percent pass rate among its graduating class of 2024.

The school held its graduation ceremony at the Multipurpose Sports Complex in Road Town yesterday, Thursday, June 27, where 165 students graduated, earning more than 100 combined honours.

J’quela Callwood and Alyssa Penn were named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, graduating first and second overall with high honours.

The two scholars were presented with cheques for $7,500 and $5,000, respectively, from the Ministry of Education in celebration of their accomplishments.

Minister of Education Sherie de Castro, who handed over the cheques, congratulated the students and acknowledged the efforts of the ESHS staff and the students’ parents.

While addressing the graduating class, Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley praised the annual excellent performance of ESHS students.

“ESHS students and graduates go up against the top talent from around the world. We either win or give them a run for their money. More often than not, we win,” Dr Wheatley stated.

I hope you guys are able to find a career in the bvi because the government don’t seem to put much thought into job opportunities for our young generation.

Sometimes ending up in minimum wage job with big degrees

But don’t lose hope keep you head up and stay committed to your goals

  9. Honestly says:

Most of the students that they allow to graduate can hardly read or write properly or even do a simple math problem such as algebra or calculus.

I wish each and every one of you a bright, fulfilling and God-filled future. Heartfelt congratulations in your achievements. May your days be filled with purpose and grace.

To the Labour Minister, let’s build these Virgin Islands for our young ones coming behind. Some will leave and some will stay here with us. They should be able to find self-gratifying work and build themselves up from entry-level to the very top. Let’s encourage them and wish them well in their future endeavours.
