Accused gunman slapped with 3 charges after attempted robbery
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has recovered a firearm from 21-year-old Jahnoi Frank following an attempted armed robbery that took place after 9 pm on June 14.
The RVIPF reported they recovered a 9mm semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing three live rounds, which was used in the attempted armed robbery in Lower Estate, Tortola. A lone masked man reportedly attempted to steal another man’s jewellery by accosting him with a handgun.
According to the police, Frank has been charged with Attempted Robbery, Possession of a Firearm with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence, Carrying a Firearm without a Licence, and Possession of Explosives.
Frank remains in police custody pending his court appearance.
The alleged victim sought treatment at the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital and has since been released.
The Commissioner of Police, Mark Collins, commended the officers for their bravery and quick, effective response in the matter. He also renewed the commitment of the police force to prevent and reduce crimes in the territory.
