All local ports of entry closed

Due to the inclement weather being experienced because of Tropical Storm Dorian, all local ports of entry have been rendered closed until further notice.

The BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA) confirmed via a media release on Wednesday, August 28 that it had halted operations at all the territory’s airports.

The territory’s airports comprise the Auguste George International Airport on Anegada, the Taddy Bay Airport on Virgin Gorda and the Terrance B Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island.

“An assessment on the conditions of each airport will be made early Thursday morning following the passage of Tropical Storm Dorian and a further press release issued to announce their openings,” the BVIAA stated.

BVI News also contacted the Acting Deputy Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority Akeem Pickering who confirmed that all the marine ports of entry in the territory will be closed.

“All of our ports of entry have been closed and we will notify the public in the morning after we do an assessment as to when we will reopen,” he said.
