Police have made yet another dent in the organised trafficking of drugs and firearms in the territory.

The latest breakthrough came after officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) executed several searches late last week which resulted in the arrest of four men on Tortola.

Police said a series of search operations were executed on October 6, during which two assault rifles were seized, along with a significant amount of assorted ammunition and cocaine.

Detectives charged 27-year-old Omari Roberts of Hannah’s Estate with two counts of keeping a prohibited firearm without a licence and three counts of unlawful possession of explosives.

Officers also charged 32-year-old Everette Isaac, 44-year-old Pedro Mercedes Soto, and 28-year-old Odai Abdulsalam of Valley, Virgin Gorda with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply another.

Police said all of the men will remain in custody until the next available court date.

RVIPF Commissioner Mark Collins thanked his officers from the various units who participated in the investigations and expressed appreciation for the support of law-abiding members of the public in the Force’s efforts to break the back of organised criminal activities in the territory.

That’s the police commissioner that ordered officers to destroy evidence through email? How is it that BVI news didn’t run that story. If it was one of our local leaders it would have been the first story up this morning. That Police Commissioner is a dishonest man and cannot be trusted. He needs to go
