Autism centre gets ‘HR with Heart’ donation
PRESS RELEASE – Children participating in the Autism Centre’s Easter Camp will benefit from a presentation of craft supplies by Government’s Human Resources (HR) Professionals.
The supplies were donated on April 4, and will be used for the Autism Centre’s upcoming Easter programme set to begin today, April 5.
Director of Human Resources, Mrs. Michelle Donovan Stevens along with HR Professionals, Ms. Linette Rabsatt and Mrs. Dierdra Wheatley-Peters presented three
goody-bags of supplies and an assortment of treats to the centre.
Mrs. Donovan Stevens said the presentation is a part of the ‘HR with Heart’ initiative that is meant to recognise and give back to public officers and to programmes of interest throughout the public service and in the community.
She said, “HR professionals across the public service voluntarily decided it is important to demonstrate that HR has heart. It is not exclusively about developing and managing HR policies, procedures and programmes, but it is about public service.”
The Director added, “We support the programmes and initiatives that our public officers are involved within the community and beyond, and this is our way to demonstrate that we appreciate public officers and we care about initiatives and programmes that affect our community. This is why we are giving back; this is HR with Heart.”
HR Professionals executed their initial HR with Heart activity in December, when they spread Christmas cheer and sang Christmas carols to residents at the Adina Donovan Home and to public officers in the Central Administration Complex.
April is being observed as Child Abuse Prevention and Autism Awareness Month and the Autism Centre is hosting a month long activities under the theme, ‘Autism is not contagious but Kindness Is’.
