Bad East End/Long Look roads the butt of jokes — Penn
Health Minister Marlon Penn has said the roads in East End/Long Look have become the laughingstock of the territory and are a danger to residents.
“I believe that the East End/Long Look community and the roads in that community have been the butt of a series of jokes on social media these days and I think it’s no laughing matter for me,” Penn said in the House of Assembly.
The minister, who also serves as one of the District Representatives for the area along with Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley, said he has continued to ask questions over the years about the road infrastructure in his community.
Penn said there have been heated and sensitive discussions about the road infrastructure in that community in the past, but insisted that the deteriorating situation within there needs to be arrested.
“I know that there is a particular road in question in Greenland that I continue to advocate for because I see the danger for the residents that live in the community,“ Penn stated.
“It is important for us to really look at how to get that particular piece of road addressed and fixed once and for all and thus overall the maintenance of our road infrastructure,” he added.
Penn further stated that legislators have a duty to taxpayers to maximise the resources the territory has, and at the bare minimum, deliver proper road infrastructure for the people.
He also called the road infrastructure in his community one of the worst in the territory and said he remains committed to working with the subject minister to ensure the issue is rectified.

That 8 million dollars what was Spent on the UK lawyers to defend the Corupt politrickians, could have been Spent on Your Roads and more. Mr you stood there and let the tax payers money waste also.Who to Blame no one but yourself. You in Cabinet now so Stop Crying and Make things Happen sir..
Not just out East, it is the entire Territory’s infrastructure, social services, education, sewer, water, and just about everything else that is in Government’s hands is the source of endless jokes. Yet with the billions that have gone through this territory the top local families (and we know who they are) have amassed a fortune and done nothing for our home, while the common person on the street endures 4th world bull$hit!
Not a single wealthy local family has done anything for the people they’ve robbed! Set of greedy selfish people who are first in line when contracts are offered and through manipulation get them to further solidify their power and wealth.
I’d list the names of all of them. but the news media will protect them from fear of liability and repercussions.
Marlon you is a member of government now so fix it. Stop acting like you’re still in the opposition. Lifting the mandated mask wearing is not enough for a minister’s monthly salary
You need to understandpolitics. That is why he has been appealing for the Minister responsible to take action. Hon. Natalio was doing the same. THey cannot do it. all they can do is push for it.
Stop talking silliness. Did you read the story? Where did Hon. Complain? He’s stating the facts and pushing his colleagues to get it done. He’s not the minister for works is he? The minister for works has a responsibility for the roads not Penn. We should hold Penn responsible for the areas under his responsibility.
The Premier and the Minster of Health from that area. What does that tell you?
All those people that took ridiculous contracta need to give back and fix the country.
repairs is all the roads of the BVI will ever see this century.
He only know east end roads the worst in the last 3 years. He only got elected 3 years ago. Never in he life he was in the government before. Who is this forgetful clown?
They are going to wait until the rain starts to fix the roads and they will get washed out again because they will not have time to cure.
I don’t get this dude…
For many years these roads have been left unattended and a small coat Over just before election to make it seems they are doing their job, what I don’t understand for such a small place how all the roads are in such a bad state. Imagine not even 1km of road in fish bay taking this long to repair god this nation and all they can do is fight against the expats, this place will fall apart without them so if you the BVI haven’t learn a lesson from IRMA & MARIA yuh better learn.
You cannot expect Hon Penn to do in two months what was not accomplished in 3y ears .
He was not complaining. He was stating a fact . Give them 6 months to see what is accomplished then we can begin to put on labels . In the meantime we need to push back against “mind set”’like not giving status ….. 90 day for liscene activation
Instead of thinking how to grow the economy we are thinking how to keep out migrants … BVI is slowly destroying itself because Of it’s hate for outsiders . When North America food chain begins to dry up , because is global food shortage , it the CARIBBEAN brothers and sisters who some of you despise would be you food supply chain
No supply of clean drinking water … begin to reopen and treat the well . A time is coming … Plant food .. Ah you would hear .. Follow world events .. Go back and revive farming and fishing …
