Banco Popular to have 5-day banking in VG next year

Ninth District Representative Vincent Wheatley has announced that Banco Popular on Virgin Gorda will expanding the number of days it offers baking services on the sister island.

The bank currently operates on a three-day schedule and Wheatley said he was given an assurance that residents will also enjoy additional services once the banking hours are expanded.

“I can announce now, for those who are into business here, that coming soon in the new year, we will be having five days of banking with all the other things that go with banking,“ Wheatley said at an event on the sister island.

Wheatley expressed that the bank’s new extended hours, in addition to other events happening in his district, are part of a transformation that he has been speaking about for years.

Wheatley suggested that Virgin Gorda would become the culinary centre of the territory and stated that visitors can soon expect a different experience at each establishment as they leisurely walk along the roadway from the Coco Maya restaurant area.

“You’re going to get the place properly lit, you’re going to get the sidewalks and everything in between. We want when you come to the Ninth District, you have a Ninth experience,” Wheatley said.

Can’t happen fast enough for pedestrians forced to walk ON that narrow dangerous road to the well.

Hope that it will be fully staffed. If it’s open five days a week with two employees only, it defeats the purpose.

And, get new businesses into the area with employment for the people and proits for the investors.

But, good luck with that, as there are forces who simply want the place to remain blighted, unsuccessful and run down because they are not in full charge and control.

So, these fancy articles and flowery words don’t make it on the ground realities. The reality is, the area needs an influx of investments, jobs and jobs. None of that is currently happening.
