Bank to host outreach sessions on loans

The National Bank of the Virgin Islands (NBVI) will this month host a series of community outreach sessions which it said is aimed at facilitating customers who want to take advantage of its loan concessions.

Days after Hurricane Irma hit the territory, the bank announced that it would put a three-month suspension on payments for all personal, residential, and commercial loans. Persons wishing to continue payment need only contact the bank, said NBVI in a media release.

While customers with personal loans are not required to take action during the concessionary period, the bank said persons with residential mortgages and commercial loans “are required to fill out and sign a simplified form confirming
the status of their property and/or business, insurance claims, and future intentions. All payment moratorium requests must be submitted to the Bank by Friday, October 27th.”

It added: “To futher assist customers, the bank will visit centralised district locations from October 16th – 20th to facilitate a small segment of customers that are experiencing difficulties in making it to the bank in person, due to after-effects of the hurricane.”

No community sessions were set up in District 4 as the Road Town-based bank is located in that district. Following are the dates, times, and locations of the meetings.
